Happiness is not enough!

How do you measure happiness?

Like many people, my main goal was to "be happy." So, I achieved greatness in my personal life, but it did not feel like the end all be all. Although I had everything I ever wanted in life; to travel the world, have a supporting partner, beautiful children, and a successful career, it still felt like something was missing. Without understanding this, I started searching within and found that I was missing purpose.

I'm happy (no pun intended) to announce that I have found that purpose. I discovered that my purpose in life was to inspire other women to achieve greatness, to fulfill their life goals. I found that purpose through She Alpha Co. She Alpha is a woman empowerment company that I have the pleasure to co-lead with my best friend of 18 years. Through this company, we can provide women with the resources necessary to thrive. Since 2020 we have been a source of education through books, access to experts, inspiration via podcast, and grant awards to women in business.

I'm here to tell you that striving for happiness is good, but seeking purpose will fulfill you. Once you realize what you were put in this world to do, there is no stopping you. Today I challenge you to look within and think of the things that fire your soul. From personal experience, I say to follow them because those are most likely the things that will lead to your purpose. Below are some tips to help you self-discover.

1. Read

Reading connects us to people; we'll never know across time and space. Reading also has the power to inspire us and challenge our minds to think outside of the box. If you are looking for a community of readers, join our She Alpha Book Club. This is an excellent opportunity to meet other women on a journey to self-discovery, create a network and interact with authors.

2. Practice awe and gratitude

The experience of awe makes us feel connected to something larger than ourselves—and so can provide the emotional foundation for a sense of purpose. Being in "awe" by itself won't give you a purpose in life. It's not enough to feel like you're a small part of something big; you also need to feel driven to impact the world positively. That's where gratitude and generosity come into play.

3. Listen to what other people appreciate about you.

One way to find out the things you are great at is by asking your friends and family what they love about you. How you make people feel is often an indication of the gift you have to offer the world.

4. Find a community

A community is a group of people connected by one or more attributes. As human beings, we need a sense of belonging, and that sense of belonging connects us to the many relationships we develop. The individuals in this community can inspire you to find your purpose. You are always welcome to join our community of Alphas <3

5. Tell your story

Purpose sometimes can develop from curiosity in your own life. What hardships have you faced? What helped you overcome them? Tell people about it. Sometimes inspiring others is the best gift you can give the world.

There is no perfect formula, but I believe if you try some of these, you will be a step closer; let me know how it goes!
